Today's Talker: Fort Dix Terror Plot

Six men, described as “Islamic militants” are under arrest today, accused of plotting an attack on Fort Dix Army post in New Jersey. According to federal authorities, the men were trying to “kill as many soldiers as possible.” White House spokesman Tony Snow says there’s no direct evidence the suspects had ties to al-Qaida or any other international terrorism group. The men, four of whom were born in the former Yugoslavia, one in Jordan and one in Turkey, had been under surveillance for 16 months. What is your reaction to the arrests? Do you feel the government needs to do more to keep U.S. military compounds safe? What more can be done? Are you relieved to learn about these arrests, or more nervous? The FBI had been investigating these folks for a while. I had written an article earlier today concerning this. I think that our Military bases should be on a medium alert at all times, and maybe a medium to high alert. The days of just hanging back is not the best of ideas right now...

I think our security every where is lacking. We have our guard down. I was just thinking of the Virginia massacre. You don't hear anything about that anymore. I understand it for the families also but we still cannot just forget. We have to stay on top of these people and these issues.
Even our military installations seems lacking. I use the commissary for weekly food shopping. We don't even have to show ID at the door anymore. The front gates are open. I think it is just asking for trouble. Buckle up our seatbelts borders and security.

All these people arrested were in their twenties - one of them lived right down the road from us, and was the older brother of my son's friend.

I'll be writing an article on this later.

hey wait a minute. I thought that we are in Iraq to "fight them over there so that we won't have to fight them in our own city". But none of these guys are from Iraq. Please explain this whole thing to me one more time.

Actually I never bought that stuff about Iraqi insurgents coming over here. They dont' have an airline.

Wow..........THE MAIN POINT is that no matter what Radical Islam will not stop untill the White House is under Muslim control.

PEOPLE, STOP BEING POLITICLY CORRECT. THIS IS THE EXACT THING I HAVE BEEN WRITING ABOUT.

This is so scary, I am so glad that someone was really alert and notified the proper people. Unless we stop allowing all of these immigrants in the USA, I dont see how we can prevent this totally. Are own freedoms are going to be the downfall of America, just as our laxed security allowed 9/11 to happen.We dont want to give up our freedoms but I dont think we can have it both ways, This is a shame, if we have to turn every corner with fear, we will become prisoners in our own land...But thank God , there are people in the USA who have the common sense to foresee, the dangers that we face now. Some say there is no threat here, well now, do you want ketchup to eat those words? The threat has always been here, even before 9/11. We have to work together on keeping America safe and I think it will be an ongoing job, where we cannot let our guard down for a minute.

The way to fight Islamic terrorism is through banning illegal immigration from Arab countries, and deporting the terror cells here. In 1998 after reading the newspapers, I predicted that Moslems would fly planes into WTCenters, and it was because our country didn't punish Iran, Libya and Syria for bombing Pan Am #103.

Now that this has been exposed, vigilance must remain high at all military sites.

As far as these guys, here's my compassionate handling. Let them go home to their own countries -- as follows ...

Take them to Atlantic City ... walk them to the beach ... tell them to swim. If they come back ashore, shoot them -- first in the foot, aiming slightly higher each time the return to the beach.

Military bases have security, and I'd wager that some of the guards have experience from Iraq or Afghanistan. If the attack had happened, none of these guys would be alive.
