Oh yes i could hardly breath knowing that the government might be listening to my phone calls. I feel so much better now! It should be my right to privacy should I decide to become a terrorist!

You really think so, Tim?? I would rather be a cautious "sheeple" than an ignorant one. The feds can STILL listen. Telecommunication companies may be more willing to cooperate without being compelled to do so.

Telecoms are now working deals to give the Dems every jot and tittle of illegal info in exchange for some immunity. They will reveal just how dirty Dubya and Gang is to keep their hides. We'll find out just how extensive and intrusive, just what kind of search words, algorithims were used and who had access to the data and for what purpose. Remember these crimes were brought to you by the created reality crowd. How much data was sold? How much is in some RNC computer? Stay tuned.

Yes I really think so. I think that liberty and rights are lost a tiny piece at a time, not all at once. Every time that the citizens of this country say "Oh, it's not that bad. There's kind of a reason for my privacy and rights to be taken away." we are one step closer to having neither.

BTW, everyone has something to hide. A cautious sheeple is still a sheeple.

Sam, the telcoms don't deserve ANY immunity. They broke the law and need to be held accountable. This isn't about how much dirt you can get on Bush before he leaves office. It's about the future of a free society.

Exposure of dirt on Dubya and the Repub dominated 109th Congress equals the future of a free society. Without a scourging account of how this came about there will always be rationale to do it again at the next crisis. To preserve America we MUST know everything done by this Admin. I agree the telecoms should pay a price for abetting treason but if they can help obtain the greater end I'm willing to let them skate a bit.

Unfortunately Nalita is correct. President Bush has never displayed any sign of being intimidated by, or respectful of, the law. The change is that now such activities are criminal in nature which might mean something if he had ever been held accountable for over-stepping his authority in the past.

Any thought that you don't mind losing your rights, which I see above, is nothing more than cowardice. Real people fought and died to secure the rights we enjoy. To give them away freely, without fighting, because you're afraid of death is disgusting.

It would be interesting to see if any members of Congress have been phone tapped. Personal information can be used to get a lot of things; such as insight in how to compromise a politician and to secure some cooperation. That, however, would be illegal.
