FYI 3,000 point is not what it seems

Dear Friends,
i am so sorry that I am doing a big mass email but I just had to let you all know.
Yes I did make it to the 3,000 limit. They wanted me to donate the money to some charity that I did not even know I said "no'
I feel that if you are too make to the a limit that they tell you that you need in order to get money than you should be able to get the money, not have to give it up in some form of donation. You should be asked before they take and do that to your money.
I got so mad at them that I took my points and got Macy's Gift Cards. I am going to Macy's to get another dress. A dress that I would not be able to afford other wise. I am also going to get a new bra. I need clothes desperatly. I am a size 28 w and I need clothes to fit me.
I have to dash. but I desperatly wanted to say thanks so much for helping me get to the 3,000 mark.

Amy, I think you're confused. I got an email the other day from a new member asking me to donate all of my points to his charity. I'll bet that's the email you're talking about.

If you just not made 3000 - in June - you won't get an email from Gather until about the 3rd week of July confirming that and asking you if you want to switch to the cash option.

If you made it in May, you would have received that notice about the 3rd week of June, and I didn't notice anyone who made it in May mentioning a weird email from Gather asking them to donate.

They've never asked me either. I made it in March and was switched over about April 25.

I agree with Marilyn. there has to be some mix up! I've been on the cash option for over a year now and have never heard anything like this before! Besides, Gather wouldn't have contacted you this soon or through your Gather messages.

I think there must be some kind of misunderstanding. I've been on the cash option since last summer and I've never heard of this before. When you get your cash option invite, it comes to your REGULAR EMAIL address, NOT your gather mail. And, it usually takes a few weeks. By the way, you need 3,125 points to get the cash option, not 3,000.

it is 3000 to make the cash otion BUT i have never heard of this before..

It used to be 3125 points. Now it's 3000. I have an email from Gather that I saved about that.

Never heard of this, I made 3000 points in July of last year and NEVER ever got offered the Cash option and don't know now if I want it. Have not made 3000 since due to life, family, stress and time.
at best, beating my brains out on Gather I've never done more than a buck or two a day under regular comp.

thanks everyone i wish i saved the letter that told me that there was the guy that wanted me to give me money. I hope that you all are right and that gave is not tryng to set met up for a heart felt disapointment. Oh well i really need the new dress and that is what i am going to get. I do not need a lobster dinner.

I'm glad you made it to 3000 points Amy. I'm actully going to give it a shot this month so I can switch to cash, though I've never gotten a gift card yet, I'm changing my views and really need the money.
Enjoy the Macey's dress, they have such nice dresses that I try not to even look at, cause once my hnd gose down to the price tag, it suddenly loses all of it appeal to me. I call it defensive shopping, :) If I no longger like it then I no longger want it and am not dissappointed that I can't have it.

Well, it's too bad if someone tried to scam you, but come on...you make it sound as if it is greedy to ask someone to donate to charity. The fact that you're able to access a computer shows that you're better off than a lot of folks out there.
