Satanic Simpsons?

I don't know about Matt Groening, or that I believe The Simpsons have contributed to the dumbing down of America. I think the Republican Party has that pretty much under control without any help from television.

But - THIS bothers me greatly: The Freemasons hide their true identity behind their "charitable organization" cloak which, for all practical matters, is merely a good way to evade taxation and prey on the general public's trust that such organizations look to do good.

Is this a joke? Is it April Fools day?

Just like one man's trash is another man's treasure, one man's religion is another man's cult. I don't know anything about you and it is very clear that you don't know anything about Masons, but I would never presume to link your beliefs with something diabolical or sinister. Regardless of the suppposed "agenda" of Masons, Shriners, Christians, Jews, Muslims, Sikhs, Unitarians, Catholics and so forth, not only is membership a private matter that is absolutely no one else's business, but furthermore the goals of any organization can and will be perverted by the mere fact of human involvement. It would appear that the real fearmongers in our midst are not the Masons or even, I regret to say, the Republicans. They are instead people who invent and perpetuate hate and suspicion of anyone and anything they cannot be bothered to investigate and understand. It is behaviour such as this that causes seemingly reasonable people to stand by and say nothing as a holocaust is carried out. May you be so blessed as to never be a member of any group that is suddenly deemed "suspcious" or "abnormal" by another. I fear, however, that we live in a world were no one is safe from such rash and unreasonable hatred.

You can not join the Masons without declaring your belief in God. Every meeting is opened with prayer, every meal is started with prayer. The Shrine hospitals have done more good for children than all the other clubs combined. It the Masons and Shrine are evil we could sure use a lot more evil. I was associated with the Shrine for a while, not a member, but a guest. Never have I met a finer group of people. They asked me to join but I could not because I don't have a birth certificate.

Masons have through the ages been attacked for many reasons. They are not involved in satanic practices. Just look at the many Shrine hospitals.

I've heard he's an OT7 in Scientology.

But at least now we know where the inspiration for the Stonecutters episode came from.

Wow. A truly incredible lack of knowledge about the Masons. Matt Groening is evil incarnate, there's absolutely no question about it, but it's not because he's a Mason . . . He belongs to the Moose Lodge and the Elks and, as such holds the unltimate twin position af Grand, exalted, can-do-nothing-wrong PoohBAH of the RACK. That position, when filled, has traditionally ended in the holder stepping down from the top Elk or the top Moose job because the coming of the end of the world has long been predicted to happen when (it is told) one cartoonist holds BOTH positions and many were worried they may forget and doodle something. Matt challenges this, clearly, and has held both jobs for some time now. :)

I don't consider the Masons's evil. I do think think like with any religion or group they have made some bad choices. But they have made alot of great ones as well.

Did you know the mason's were a big help with the under ground railroad and helping slaves to freedom? have you seen some of the under ground tunnels they have built? Just magnificant.

They are opposed to some things that Catholics do, right? Is that why they have been dubbed "evil" by some?
What does 33rd degree mean? Is it a percentage? If I were going to give credit to anyone being something or having significant pull in something they would have to be at least 10th degree.

Claude--D'ya really believe that the Masons are evil!? Preposterous. That is, though, the reason why I like the Simpson's--they are preposterous! It is a satire! America is dummed down by lots of things beside TV and Readers Digest!!! Perhaps the general entitlement culture especially in schools. I like Martin Seligman's take on self-esteem myself--a whole lot more complex than blaming a club like the Mason's! Sheesh!

as for investing politics into everything-I have to add the Democrat Party to Sandy's reasoning of control by American political party. Once the oxymoronic "Fairness Doctrine" is imposed, then for the first time in US peacetime history, a major aspect of the media will be shut down, thats something positive I assume.

Doyle, media being bought up is something new? Soros keeps doing the same thing though his outlets fail. Has this nation ever used the power of government to shut down a media source unless it was considered "a threat to national security"? Will the Fairness Doctrine be applied to TV news/print media too?
