Best Oscar Dresses 2009 - Vote Here!

Earlier this morning I posted my opinions on the worst Oscar dresses from last night.  Well, criticizing is easy enough, one esteemed colleague told me, but did I have an eye for beauty?  Probably not, I said, but I'll take a stab at it.  So it's in that spirit that I present to you my picks for the Best Oscar Dresses of the 2009 Academy Awards:

Viola Davis, nominated for her supporting role in Doubt, shimmers in this simple and elegant gold number.

Normally I'm not a huge Sarah Jessica Parker, but I have to say she looked amazing last night.

Now here's someone who I'm always a fan of, aesthetically speaking.  Angelina Jolie was gorgeous in the strapless black dress.  And those earrings!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

But for me, nothing topped this breathtaking gown on Marisa Tomei.  She owned the carpet.

All of these were excellent choices. But for colors, I favored red dresses. Black or red dresses often look great on many people; white or silver, not so much.

Reese had on too much eyeshadow and not enough lipstick. Or any.

Sarah Jessica Parker always looks stunning. I voted for her. She is a very lucky woman. She can pretty much pull off any style she wears. The reality is, none of us can pull off most of the things she wears when she plays Carrie on SATC and the things she wears when she is photographed by the paparazzi when she is walking her son to school! She just looks good in everything! I think Marissa Tomei looked beautiful as well but I wish she would have gone with a jewel tone. I do think somebody is missing from the list: Frieda Pinto. I think her dress was so interesting and she is a break-takingly gorgeous person!

I also liked the way SJP described the color of her dress to Ryan Seacrest as "barely mint!"

I thought that Natalie Portman was a vision in pink. She was one of the few women that actually had on a pretty dress instead of a weird-shaped monstrosity. Other favorites of mine were Jennifer Aniston and Anne Hathaway.

I didn't see any of them so I am picking from your choices. I voted for Viola- it fits her wonderfully and it very pretty. My second choice of the above options is SJP's dress- she looks like Cinderella.
Now that Kathy mentioned Natalie Portman I have to find a picture- she is one of my favorite actresses.

I actually don't like Marissa's dress.
