Guiding Light, the longest running soap opera in television and radio history is being canceled. This 72-year old daytime staple will end it's run this September.
I kid you not, I was very surprised and disappointed by the news. I don't watch Guiding Light now, but when I was younger, it was a staple in my household, and at about age 6 or so, I knew all the characters on Guiding Light. I even acted out the scenes with my Barbie dolls! (And some inappropriate ones, at that.)
So long, Springfield. Bauers, Spauldings, and all the rest of you will all be missed.
Let's reminisce about the show for a moment. Who is your favorite character or what was your favorite storyline on Guiding Light?

Least favorite - Alan Spaulding, Roger Thorpe.
The ratings have been plummeting for a couple of years. The story lines got a little lame and then they went to those digital hand-held cameras and started doing weird things like filming a scene where we were looking up the actors noses (as if the audience was lying on the floor); I actually wrote to CBS about that. My daughter told me she read online that the actors were even doing their own makeup inside their cars on location in NJ to save money.
I guess Reva and Josh won't be getting back together.
