The discussions around the American Idol season finale aren't so much around what a great performer Kris Allen is, but rather, how did he win?
Google, Twitter, and fans across the nation expected Adam Lambert would become the next American Idol. He had a strong following all season and his performances were talked about in the media more than any other contestant's. So what happened? How did Kris Allen get more votes than Adam Lambert?
There been many theories thrown out there.
Why do you believe Adam Lambert lost "American Idol"? Vote and discuss below.

I think the producers didn't want him to win. The freakier one never wins, except maybe for Taylor Hicks--and look how that turned out!
not a follower but have heard that he should not have won
Puh-Lese.
He didn't win because he's scary looking. Not because he's gay (if he is), but because he looks like some kind of SciFi channel shapeshifter.
The one that got the most votes won. That's it. As far as the producers, that is totally ofbase, he hammed it up at practically every show; I think if anything they pushed Adam from day one. I heard on the radio today that the reason Kris won is that you can listen to his music everyday but after a while Adam's falsetto would get annoying and I agree. The better man won.
I actually am glad Kris won.
I think there's more than meets the eye to why adam didn't win. Chris is very talented, but he didn't have the vocals of adam.
He won because he is charming, kind, very cute, likable, All American and, as the judges said "truly a nice guy." Young and old females love him! Also, he can sing and will have a career.
I do think that Alan is the better singer, but he is a bit strange and I don't mean in a gay way. I doubt that gay had much to do with the outcome. He will have a great career. Young girls will scream and love his bizarre costumes and makeup.
Perhaps two stars are born.
Leo, I think you have it totally correct. I think America got it correct. America put 2 stars on the map.
Adam is a bit different. He is great. Even though his genre of music is not my style, I enjoyed watching him. The theatrics were great. His is confident because he knows he has something. The man can sing. He will have a great future. He is flagrant and in your face, not to be ignored.
Kris is little shyer with so much humility. He can sing, but his subdued, quiet nature may not have given him the opportunities that Adam will have for the future. Being the American Idol gives him opportunity. America gives Kris his chance and he and Adam will both shine. This was the best season of Idol.
America absolutely got this Right. Yes, two stars are born.
your presuming that a machine knows how to count!
I think Angie said it best for me.
I agree that Angie said it best. I can drive down the road in my car and sing along with Kris. Not so sure I could do that with Adam. I voted for Kris, he has a better tone to his voice. I'd really prefer to not listen to someone screaming at me all the time. I do like Adam, I just think Kris is a bit better.
I didn't watch until the last 2 episodes, but I think the right thing happened. Both these guys could sing, but Adam was too overstated and unique. The title would've ultimately been a straight jacket for him. Kris strikes me as someone who is a little better at "playing well with others" -- and he is a cutie-pie. He'll be able to work with producers and make a very listenable CD -- even if he is no Carrie or Kelly.
I voted for the last option-"Get over it!"
You cannot pretend to know the intentions of those who voted. Both artists were very good. Many people did like Kris over Adam. I didn't vote, but would have had a difficult time voting.
Besides, many people believed that Adam was too commercial and not a real amateur.
Well, I didn't watch it all season to really be in the know. In fact, I was in the kitchen cooking most of the time during the final. But from a "listening" stand point, I thought Adam should have won. I heard both of them sing several times without seeing either of them. From the beginning of the show, IMHO Adam has a much better voice, more trained, and could sing a variety of music. I was shocked when I watched the last few minutes and saw Kris won. My thoughts were it's rigged. If it were based purely on "voice" anyway. Reminded me of wrestling or a beauty pagent. Anywho, I expect Adam will have as much if not more of a career than Kris because the fact is, he was born to perform or else got some really good training for it! *~* But, that's just my 2 cents worth! lol
Merry, to the point. American Idol is about finding someone who has possibility. It creates opportunity. for folks to be noticed who have dreams of getting into this type of business. In this case, it was Kris. Adam has been trained and needed exposure to get that training to work for him. American Idol did what it was supposed, what it was set up to do for both of these stars. America did right by both of these men.
Check out this transcript of Adam and Kris discussing the American Idol results. Adam says he thinks that Danny Gokey's fans voted for Kris.
Kris won and in his own right he is worthy to be the winner, though I think Adam is in a league above Kris.
I am a fan of both of these guys and I think it doesn't really matter that Kris won and Adam lost because Adam is already a winner with a successful recording career - sold out concert tours, many tv appearances, successful debut album that has done well not just in the US but around the world, his Acoustic Live! album, his Glam Nation Live concert cd/dvd album, and more.
And Kris has been successful as well with his album and recording career. He also co-wrote a song for Matthew Morrison's debut album. :)
Both are winners! And I have a feeling that they will remain winners for years to come.
