Paula Abdul Won't Return to American Idol

Paula Abdul will not be returning to American Idol for the next season. She made the announcement on Twitter and it comes on the heels of last month's rumors that she wouldn't be returning. Abdul tweeted the following to let her entire fanbase know of the change:

"With sadness in my heart, I've decided not to return to #IDOL. I'll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all ...being a part of a show that I helped from day1become an international phenomenon ... What I want to say most, is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me ... It truly has been breathtaking, especially over the past month ... I do without any doubt have the BEST fans in the entire world and I love you all."

On August 3rd, it was announced that bikini-clad Kara DioGuardi will be returning as an Idol judge...and now we learn, as Paula's full replacement.

What do you think of an Idol without Paula? Think Kara can carry the wacky torch?

Hiring a fourth American Idol judge in the first place was a clear indication they were going to get rid of Paula. I'm disappointed to see her go, but couldn't AI have replaced her with someone more well-known by the audience (and not just by the industry)?

Maybe they could have replaced her with someone like Debbie Gibson or Carnie Wilson.

Say it aint so!! Kara can't compete with Paula on MANY levels. It just will not be the same idol.

Just don't know if I'm gonna be able to stomach the next season. I'm interested to see if this affects the ratings or Simon's decision to renew his contract after his one remaining season (he already indicated he might walk, even though he's in negotiations for a 100 Million Plus a year salary). This could mark the beginning of the end of Idol's dominance. KARA is unbearable! But, knowing me, I'll still keep on blogging about the crazy show until its demise! lol What else do I have to do anyway? :-)

I am sad to see her go. She brings a lot of entertainment to the show and I look forward to hearing her comments each week. Mainly because she is so unpredictable and emotional. Kara brings a more professional element that I feel we already get from Simon and Randy. I definitely think the show will lack a little something next season, but of course I will still tune-in.

I hope she was smart and aved her monies. This is a tough business. Sure she's emotionally over the top - but so what, many artists are.
I don't watch the show all that much, but I will miss Paula,. Don't know Kara - don't care. Binkini model?
More professional? You may say what you want but Paula is fantastic choreographer sorry, Profession Bikini Model doesn't top heart and soul. Maybe youth did? Enough said!

I'll be watching even less of this show.
