Ex-Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress agreed to a two year prison term today in New
York.
He could get out in twenty months with good behavior.
Burress did not have a license for the gun he carried into a New York night club when
he accidentally shot himself in the leg.
The charges he faced could have landed him in jail for at least three and a half years.
Burress hopes to resume his career in the NFL when he gets out.
I think that career may be over because he will have missed too much playing time
by then and Burress is already in his thirties.
He has a lot of talent but his actions far too often got in the way of that talent.
What a shame.

Dumb decision but if you want to play, you got to pay. I'm a big Giants fan and this guy was good. Maybe some future up and coming star will learn from this and avoid some of these problems we see time and time again.
As for YO-YO, Plaxico, did he bring the gun with him for self protection? Obviously it didn't serve it's purpose, in fact I would have to say it "back fired". LOL
It's a shame! By the time he gets out of prison he will be too old to play. He should have known better then to bring a gun to a NY club. He can afford to pay for some body guards and what the hell kind of a place is it anyway that you have to bring your gun?
He was punished enough, he will not be home when his child is born - that is punishment for his wife and family as well. So the judge is trying to send a message and he is made a laughing stock.
I'm glad to see that the football heros are not immune to the law, but I think the sentence is way to harsh.
