Woman Attacked by Raccoon Gang

In what can only be described as "unusual" news, a 74-year old Lakewood, Florida woman is currently recovering from injuries she sustained Saturday evening. She was attacked by a gang of five raccoons when she attempted to shoo the animals away from her yard.

The attack was so brutal that someone has actually been quoted as saying that the woman was "filleted." Needless to say, other residents of the area are being warned to be on the lookout.

If this gang of raccoons encounters a small child or domestic animal... Well, one can only imagine what the outcome of that would likely be.

That it is. I've never heard of a group of raccoons attacking quite like this.

That was one of the first things I came across this morning. The fact that there were five of them working together rather than an individual raccoon attacking was what got my attention.

We havea racoon prowling our pool deck and pooping there during the night. We saw him there yesterday afternoo . They are getting bolder.

If he's out during the day, the concern would, of course, be whether he is rabid.

The woman has been treated in case they are. Although, it seems unlikely that they are infected.

How scary. Too bad she didn't look out the window and call animal control if they didn't leave. Course I would have aimed a water hose at them... sounds like she didn't have a lot of time.

I heard the rabies treatment is given by needles and ghastly to go through. My heart goes out to her.
