This is just appalling! An interracial couple in LA was denied a marriage license because the justice of peace doesn't issue marriage licenses to interracial couples because he believes that their kids end up shunned by both races. So he's just looking out for their future kids. What's even worse, is that he doesn't consider himself to be a racist. He likes to treat everyone equally. What an ignorant person he is!
I have a couple of friends who are children of interracial couples and they have done well for themselves and don't feel like they have been shunned by both races.
This hit a little bit close to home because I myself had been in a year long interracial relationship. We never really experienced discrimination but I know many couples aren't as lucky.
I hope this justice of peace gets fired because there shouldn't be a place for this kind of behavior in 2009.
