Is this the engagement season or what? Announced yesterday at the Whitney Gala, Mamie Gummer, daughter of Academy Award Winning actress and my favorite actress of all time, Meryl Streep and sculptor Don Gummer, got engaged to fellow stage actor Ben Walker.
The family is ecstatic. Mamie is the second oldest of four children. Ben Walker proposed on Sunday night, yep, the old fashion way--on one knee. The engagement ring is modest, with an old-fashioned setting that was slightly oversize--the perfect ring for this couple, understated with a hint of flash.
Mamie (real name Mary Willa) and Ben Walker met while performing in Dangerous Liaisons on Broadway in April 2008. The couple started out with a great friendship that morphed into a loving relationship. Mamie says Ben is kind, patient, and helps relieve her stress.
Congratulations to this happy couple, and one of Hollywood's Royal Families.
