When I was a little girl it actually made me gag. Now that I'm all grown up with children and grandchildren of my own, I couldn't imagine Thanksgiving dinner without it. Sweet Potato Casserole has become a staple for our Thanksgiving dinner.
Creamy and sweet, rich and satsifying.....Sweet Potato Casserole is easy to make and an exceptional side dish. The crispy browned marshmallows are the perfect topping.
Here is my favorite recipe for Sweet Potato Casserole.
Ingredients:
1 (16 oz.) can sweet potatoes
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 egg, beaten
4 tbsp. melted butter
1 pkg. marshmallows
Mix all of these ingredients together with a mixer on medium speed. Grease an 8x8 baking dish and preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Pour the Sweet Potato Casserole mixture into the pan and bake for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and top the entire Sweet Potato Casserole with marshmallows. Return to the oven for about 10 minutes or until the marshmallows start to turn a golden brown.
