Getting laid off is bad enough, but workers in certain fields can suffer additional industry-specific pains that add major inconveniences to injury. This seems to be the case now for drivers (formerly?) working for Arrow Trucking Company, based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Though a full closing hasn't been announced, the company today is suspending all operations until further notice. Truckers in the field are finding that their gas cards are now not working.
There are reports that final paychecks are not being distributed and employee benefits canceled.
Arrow Trucking employs about 300 people locally around Tulsa, and roughly 1000 truckers living around the country.
What a horrible situation for these families 3 days before Christmas. What would something like this happen today? If things were this bad, couldn't management have eased things down to a smooth enough landing that their employees wouldn't be stranded hundreds or thousands of miles from home? This probably goes without saying, but MAJOR FAIL on Arrow Trucking management. We may learn more later today.

In addition, if needed, LinkAmerica will offer truckers a bus ride home if they are hired
Or it will allow others in the industry to pick up new business and help them from falling like this!

I am amazed at how many other companies seem to be hiring, while Arrow is in such dire straits.
The trucks that couldnt not move under there own power, even tho we were told that we will not pick over trucks that where no drivers or in the boneyard. we got the trucks going and got them out that night. only 3 drivers stayed at the tulsa shop.
Alot of the dayshift guys did not know until it was on the news, some came at night when we loaded up our boxes. I came in at 8am to find out they where done, everybodys tools are out.
For the base employees our last weeks check (the 15th) bounced, we all are a grand plus in the hole. with another check and a half coming. What i got from the meeting was, we will get our money, mechanics, office and truckers alike. Good luck i wish yall the best in your edevours.
I talked to linkamerica, they are definately hiring drivers, but not mechanics, so im off for another job.
Try john christner trucking, they do a leas to own program as well as the normal deal where you driver their truck. there based out of sulpalpa oklahoma, just a few miles from arrow.
I truly feel bad for the drivers, i hope they are doing well. Hope to see you back on the road, and maybe in the shop, thats how i make my money.
Good luck

But i heard through the great vine sometime around noon today, that diamler financial was giving kw/freightliner drivers a bus ticket or 200 dollars cash. Provided the show up at a freightliner dealership and call a number, they are also paying for enough fuel to get to a dealership.
International drivers are waiting for the same thing, but not have been given there instructions yet.

Really sorry to here about all the drives from Arrow getting laid off. My Son is a truck driver and was talking about going over to Arrow last month I told him to wait until after the first of the year to see how the economy was going. He was sure glade I told him to wait. He is driving up from Patterson Ca to Redding he is willing to help any driver who is having trouble going north because they are short of money or have a pet. His name is Jeremiah and is on channel 17 handle Toad.
They were making us pull brake pads off wrecked trucks to put them on driver trucks, thats very risky, i almost got fired over telling em no that i wouldnt do it. They would probably have no issue, but if you went down the road and hit a bus full of kids cuz the brakes failed, that would come to me.

The next day had message to deliver truck to nearest freightliner dealership and get bus ticket home, but the way they have been treating me, having me wait weeks at a time in Tulsa for repairs and sitting in truckstops for loads, there was no way I trusted this message, so just came home to my family.
Now, I have the truck and trailer at my house, not really sure what to do....should I take it to freightliner about one and half hrs away, put a lien on truck and equipment in order to receive pay they owe or what. Lost in limbo here not knowing legal rights, but do have another job lined up first of the year with a more reputable company.
Must say overall the truth working for this outfit has been lousy. I have almost 9 months with them and have been sticking it out to gain flatbed experience. Was hoping for a year exp then move to another company. Flatbedding is hard work and the learning never ends.
I've heard they were getting money from the government for hiring new drivers, and they must of made a ton of money doing so, because they were bringing in around 75 to 100 new people every week. The turn around rate is 183% with this company. They would give you loads keeping you busy for a month or two, then begin to starve you out on the road, which is why so many people quit....they had to have people to quit to keep that government $ coming in. A real shame how this business was run lately....no thought of the drivers over the road. And to keep many of them stranded across the country is a travesty for hard working people, just trying to provide for their families. I'm just lucky to have enough fuel left in truck to make it home.
good luck and god bless.
