If you live on the east coast, you might have already heard about this news earlier this morning. A part of the Lake Champlain Bridge was brought down earlier this morning by explosives. The bridge connects Vermont to New York.
The 80 year old bridge was brought down over night by 800 pounds of explosives. The bridge had been closed for just a bit over two months now when it was deemed unsafe back on October 16th. If you were at the explosion site, it would have sounded as loud as a rock concert coming in at 130 decibels.
The debris from today's explosion will be cleared by sometime in April, and a new bridge is set to be built and put into use by summer 2011. Check out this short video of the bridge coming down below.
