Jackson Jeffcoat and Jordan Hicks announcement news

Earlier today in NCAA football news, there was a Jackson Jeffcoat and Jordan Hicks announcement which was music to Texas Longhorns' fans ears.  Both players have committed to play football at the University of Texas starting next season.  Jeffcoat is considered the number 2 recruit as a defensive end, while Jordan Hicks is the number 4 recruit as a linebacker, according to the ESPNU top 150 rankings.

Jordan Hicks from Lakota West High School in West Chester, Ohio is 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, and is considered the nation's top-ranked outside linebacker clocking in at 4.56 on the 40-yard dash.  Hicks' other college considerations were Florida, Ohio State, USC and Alabama.  Meanwhile, Jackson Jeffcoat is 6'5 and 225 pounds.  He had 8.5 sacks and two interceptions during his senior year in High school, and was considering just three schools for his NCAA career: Texas, Oklahoma and Houston.

Jeffcoat's twin sister recently committed to play college basketball for Oklahoma, while his father is part of the coaching staff for Houston's college football team.  Although Jeffcoat noted that basketball is his first love, he said football will be priority number 1.  His decision to play for Texas seemed to due most with feeling comfortable at the school.

"I felt most comfortable at Texas. It's not that I didn't feel comfortable anywhere else; everywhere else was great. That's why it was such a hard decision and it took so long," Jeffcoat said. "All these schools are great schools. I just felt right with Texas."

The Jackson Jeffcoat and Jordan Hicks announcement news is definitely great for Texas fans, but it's not a sealed deal yet.  While both players have verbally committed to Texas, verbal commitments are non-binding.  Recruits still have up until April 1, 2010 to sign official letters of intent with their schools of choice.
