Here's a good compilation of news and video about the Stuart beach shark attack in Stuart, Florida.
Stuart, Florida is part of Florida that is a nice meld of the old and new Florida.
Hutchinson Island, where the attacks took place, is a barrier island that has been developed. It's bounded on the east by the Atlantic Ocean and on the west by the Intercoastal Waterway. Despite the development, the beaches there are subject to strong weather and undertows, with the beaches getting washed away during severe storms and needing replacement by the Army Corps. of Engineers.
Old Stuart, a part of the city, was resurrected with shops and restaurants. Surprisingly, when you think of Florida, you think of retirees, but Stuart is one of those places where younger people congregate. It's not South Beach, but it's not all snowbirds and old folks riding around in Buicks either.
