Nodar Kumaritashvili luge crash occurred only hours before the opening ceremony and Olympic schedule begins for 2010. The Olympic luge crash killed Nodar Kumaritashvili from the Republic of Georgia as he was training for the luge competition before the start of the Vancouver games.
According to ABC, the Olympic luger Nodar Kumaritashvili flew off the track on the sled he was riding at almost 90 MPH and was flung into a steel pole with no padding. It was believed to be the fastest time in the world when 21 year old Nodar Kumaritashvili lost control.
The luge crash speed was noted at 86.9 MPH when Nodar Kumaritashvili was flung. Rest in peace, young Nodar Kumaritashvili.
