Windows Live Messenger Services which includes Hotmail went down Tuesday morning. A lot of troubled users encountered the “service unavailable” message when they tried to sign in to their Windows Live accounts and Hotmail accounts.
Although Hotmail service was down and not working earlier, it appears Microsoft has now resolved the problem for the email service at the very least.
“This morning, around 9:30am PST, the Windows Live ID sign-in service experienced a partial outage that caused some customers to not be able to sign into services using Windows Live ID for approximately one hour. The service is now restored to normal. Microsoft apologizes for any inconvenience this has caused customers.”
The Hotmail issues would affect anyone using Microsoft’s Windows Live ID service, which includes services such as Hotmail or instant messaging. Also, anyone trying to create a brand new account for the popular Xbox Live online world would have been affected. Luckily, the problem has now been fixed for Hotmail users at least. The Windows messenger problems may still be occurring as of this post.
