Shamu Whale Show is cancelled in San Diego because at the Orlando Sea World an employee was killed during an encounter with a whale at the Orlando theme part. The identity of the victim is remaining quiet, although a local TV station is reporting that it was a female employee. Apparently, the female was killed when she was grabbed by one of the Sea World’s whales at the start of a public Shamu Whale Show.
The San Diego Sea World Park officials are undecided as to whether or not have Thursday’s Shamu Whale Show or not.
The Sea World Sand Diego spokesman, David Koontz commented "We're terribly saddened by the loss of the member of our SeaWorld family, it doesn't matter what park. We have canceled our afternoon Shamu show here today."
One of the guests at Sea World’s Shamu Show, Victoria Biniak, told the TV station that the female trainer had just finished explaining what would occur during the Shamu Show when the male whale grabbed her and killed her. At that point, Biniak said, the whale came up from the water and grabbed the woman. "He was thrashing her around pretty good. It was violent," Biniak said.
I am thinking, too how traumatizing this would be to the audience, especially the children, to see a woman get killed in such a violent way.
Here is a video of the Orlando Sea World, Shamu Whale Show...just to show you an example a Sea World Whale Show! The actual video of the whale killing the female is not available at this time.
