There was a recall issued on two types of Pringles Potato Chips. With so many different types available, it is important to know which two types have been recalled.
Pringles Restaurant Cravers Cheeseburger potato crisps and Pringles Family Faves Taco Night potato crisps are the two flavors affected. Proctor and Gamble issued the recall upon findings by the FDA that a certain ingredient may contain Salmonella. The ingredient is hydrolyzed vegetable protein (HVP) manufactured by Basic Food Flavors, Inc. HVP is a flavor enhancer used in a wide variety of processed food products, such as soups, sauces, chilis, stews, hot dogs, gravies, seasoned snack foods, dips, and dressings. It is often blended with other spices to make seasonings that are used in or on foods. No one has reported getting sick from the Pringles, but Proctor and Gamble decided not to take their chances. Consumers who have purchased the recalled products should discard the product and call P&G for a replacement coupon or refund, toll-free, at 1-877-876-7881, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
Over 50 products are thought to contain the HVP. Everything from McCormick Gravy Mixes to CVS Brand Honey Mustard Pretzel Nuggets are included. To do a complete search of all 50 products, click this link to see the FDA's list. (Link will open in new window)
