Greetings Idol Watchers! Â The Semi-Finals are finally over! Â No more 3 days a week of Idol (well, except for Idol Gives Back week!) Â Well, I really didn't expect to repeat my 4 for 4 performance this week. Â And up until the last minute I thought I was going to go 3 for 4, but they had to throw a shocker our way. Â The one person we all guaranteed to go home actually stayed. Â And someone that could have went pretty far in the competition went home. Â This is an interesting week folks! Â But let's see who went home!
Â
Â
Â
Â
Eliminated: Katelyn Epperly, Todrick Hall, Alex Lambert, Lilly Scott (WHAT!?!!?)
My Picks: Katie Stevens, Paige Miles, Todrick Hall, Alex Lambert
Â
Okay, well Katelyn, I kind of saw coming. Â The guys, I surprisingly got right, although I'm not happy about Alex. Â Todrick? Â SEE YA BUDDY! Â No love lost there. Â But come on, LILLY? Â Really? Â I know people loved Katie and I didn't want to see her go either, but did any of us see Lilly getting the boot this early? Â Yeah, she has a similar sound to other contestants. Â Yes eventually she was going to have issues being too similar with the guitar to Crystal. Â But her voice was so good! Â Her performances were so good! Â I don't often say this about non top 12ers, but I think she got some good exposure and will get a deal out of this. Â I'm still shocked folks. Â And it makes this top 12 that much weaker. Â Let's meet them!
Â
Â
Top 12:
Â
- Didi Benami
- Siobhan Magnus
- Paige Miles
- Casey James
- Tim Urban
- Lee Dewyze
- Crystal Bowersox
- Mike Lynche
- Lacey Brown
- Aaron Kelly
- Andrew Garcia
- Katie Stevens
There you have it. Â The big hitters are now Mike, Crystal and Siobhan. Â There could be a few dark horses in there but they have a lot of ground to make up. Â Will they be able to do it while tackling the Rolling Stones catalog next week? Â We'll see. Â Any predictions to what each contestants will perform? Â I will have to start thinking about it. Â I can see Tim Urban trying to pace around looking into the camera with those eyes and sing "Satisfaction" and I can see it being awful. Â Good Times ahead folks!
Â
But let's get to the highs and lows. Â And there weren't many in this episode. Â We were too busy naming the top 12. Â But tradition is tradition!
Â
Highlights
Â
- Matt Giraud and Scott McIntyre Duet - performing Billy Joel's "Tell Her About It" Love Billy Joel so by default it becomes a Highlight.  But if I want to be honest, it was quite corny!  Was good to see the piano men back on stage though.  Of all Billy songs to show off the piano, I don't know if "Tell Her About It" is the one.  But they did get off a few good solo riffs near the end.   Did I just catch Ryan calling Scott "Scottie the Body?"  Ahh good times.
- So exciting to see Aaron get in. Â I don't expect him to win or even want him to win. Â But he was so nervous! Â Way to go Moms!!
- Not a lot of Kara screen time tonight!
Â
Â
- The Idol Group song was Michael Buble's "Haven't Met You Yet". Â You may have seen Michael Buble parody this with John Hamm in a hysterical Saturday Night Sketch. Â This thing was still full of all of the cheese you can get. Â But that being said, it wasn't too bad. Â But the lip syncing is out of control! Â I know it's tough to get 16 people to sing in harmony with all of that choreography and only have a few days to put it together. Â Here's an idea: Â DON'T DO THEM!!!
- So sad to see Alex Lambert go. Â He broke down into tears on the show. Â The only thing he has now is his mullet to wipe them away! Â Poor guy, I liked him. Â Best of luck dude! Â Â OMG, he was STILL crying during the commercial and when it came back. Â Poor dude. Â I feel so bad picking him to leave!
- There wasn't enough Kara screen time to make fun of tonight! Â Although her one segment explaining why she cried over Mike Lynche's performance was excruciating! Â My favorite part of it actually was when my wife said, "Thank God you're pretty Kara" while she kept rambling on with no end. Â Â OUCH! Â BURN! Â I loved it!

Don't get me started on the rousing dueling piano performance of Scott and Matt. Couldn't they find an older and less relevant song to perform. Yuk!
Dim the lights and introduce for the first time - Ta Da - the "Twelve Silver Stools of Safety"
Didi and Siobhan are through to the top twelve. That leaves Paige and Katelyn. I thought for sure it was Paige going home. Katelyn is eliminated as much for her bad fashion sense as her bad singing. Did you see those saddle shoes she was wearing?
Next Tim, Casey and Lee are through to the top 12. That leaves Toddrick on the outside looking in.
Back to the girls - Crystal Bowersox is into the top twelve but instead of looking happy she looks nauseated . Show some positive emotion, Crystal.
Michael, Lacey and Aaron are through. That leaves Alex and Andrew. My boy Alex is eliminated. Alex is very emotional and the camera keeps panning to Siobhan in tears. The repeated cutaways to her dabbing at her eyes was like a soap opera heroine finding out she was married to her long lost brother.
After some prolonged group hugs by the boys, they kick Alex off the stage and bring out Katie and Lilly. I am shocked that Lilly is eliminated. Her voice and style are much better than say Katie, Paige or Lacey.
Next week the contestants will be singing songs by The Rolling Stones. I don't have a good feeling about that.
We shall see..................
woa...take it easy on Billy Joel! He forever will be the PIANO MAN. I agree the song wasn't the best choice...but a Billy Joel song was a must in my opinion!
As for predicitons...sounds good! I'm gonna hold off on strategy until next week. But I know who the favorites are for now. everything else is meaningless. I see another lackluster top 12 for Simon and My final season! lol
