Fifth seed Michigan State will get 12-seed and WAC champion New Mexico State, while fourth seed Maryland will face the surprising Conference USA champion, 13th seeded Houston. 6th seeded Tennessee faces a potential opening round upset against 11-seed San Diego State, and the winner of that game will likely get 3-seed Georgetown, which faces MAC champion Ohio, the 14th seed. Seventh seed Oklahoma State takes on 10-seed Georgia Tech, while 2-seed Ohio State will face fifteenth-seeded UC-Santa Barbara.
In the West regional, top-seeded Syracus takes on 16th seeded Vermont in Buffalo, NY. Barring a massive upset, the Orange will then take on the winner of 8-seed Gonzaga and 9-seed Florida State. 5th seeded Butler takes on 12-seed UTEP, while Vanderbilt takes the 4th seed and will take on OVC champ, 13-seed Murray State. 6th seed Xavier will take on 11-seed Minnesota, the winner of which will play the winner of 3-seed Pitt and 14-seed Oakland. Closing out the bracket, seventh-seeded BYU takes on 10-seed Florida, while 2nd-seed Kansas State will face the Sun Belt champion, 15-seed North Texas.
In the East, top seed Kentucky will face 16th-seed East Tennessee State, while 8-seed Texas will take on ninth-seeded Wake Forest. Fifth-seeded Temple, the Atlantic-10 champ, will take on the 12th seeded Cornell Big Red, the Ivy League champions, while 4-seed Wisconsin faces 13th-seed Wofford. Sixth-seeded Marquette will face 11-seed Washington, the Pac-10 champions, while New Mexico takes the 3rd seed and will face 14th seed Montana. Seventh seed Clemson takes on 10-seeded Missouri, while Big East champion West Virginia takes the 2-seed and will face 15th-seeded Morgan State, champins of the MEAC.
In the South Regional, top-seeded Duke will play close to home against the winner of Tuesday's play-in game between Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Winthrop, while 8-seed Cal will face ninth-seeded Louisville. Texas A&M gets a 5-seed and will play 12-seed Utah State, whereas 4-seed Purdue hobbles into a matchup against MAAC champ Siena. Notre Dame is seeded 6th and will face eleventh-seeded Old Dominion, while the Baylor Bears are seeded third and will take on 14th seed Sam Houston State. Richmond is seeded seventh and will face Saint Mary's, seeded 10th out of the West Coast Conference, and Villanova will be the second seed, with their road beginning against 15th seed Robert Morris.
The winner of the Midwest will face the West winner in the Final Four, while the East champion will face the South winner.
