Now that this Health Care Bill will be passed I will mention what needs to be done next.
But first there needs to be some cleanup in the Health Care Insurance and make it more accessible to all the people like Fire , Life, Auto and truck insurance across all state boarders.
Then everyone can buy Health Care Insurance from competitive Health Care Insurance companies and those that can’t afford it will be able to get the necessary financial assistance from the Federal government, and not burden the States with it.
The first order of business as I see it if to phase out the Medicaid programs that are tied to the states then to cancel that program, as Medicaid is no longer necessary.
The second order of business is to phase out the Medicare program. That phase out because of the current financial obligations with the folks that have Medicare, the phase out will need to be with the new folks that would have paid for it gradually over thirty or more years. Then to remove the Medicare option from the Pay Roll tax, then over some other time frame remove the Medicare program completely.
Also I see no need for folks to contribute to Social Security at all and to plan and fund their own retirement in a more restrictive IRA/401K type program. The money taken out in the Pay Roll needs to be redirected to a new IRA program. Then after the Pay Roll tax for Social Security is stopped and after retirement and those folks won’t get any Social Security, the program can also be phases out.
At that time the IRS will not get any revenue for both the Medicare or the Social Security and only the Income Tax and it will be clear what that tax is. Currently folks think that Social Security is separate from the Income Tax, but it’s not really, as the government takes it all and gives back an IOU to Social Security.
Also the USA government in the Public Health arena needs to build and staff more rural Hospitals and Medical offices for outpatient care. This has begun but more is needed in that arena.
Also not many noticed this but Symphony Hall on DirecTV or Sirius XM Radiowas playing Beethoven's ninth the same time that Congress was taking votes and descussing the Health Care Bill 3 to 4: 30 or so DC time. I wonder if it was a request.

As far as your other suggestions, Richard, I see you put a lot of thought into them. For me, i will let the financial experts look at what should be next - and that does not mean Obama - Bernanke - Paulson or any of the "supposed" financial experts.
Why too much for me.
However, Vanguard does keep me abreast of what I have and the amounts I pay them for management fees. When I have a Roth IRA I don't have any requirement to pay anything to the Feds, as that has already been done. There are no restrictions as to what I can withdraw which can be from nothing to everything every day or year.
