Good Friday Bible Verses and Jesus' Crucifixion

Good Friday bible verses remind us of Jesus' crucifixion for our sins.  His life was sacrificed so our sins can be forgiven.  At our house on Good Friday, we do not eat meat.  It is a solemn day when we read Good Friday bible verses and reflect on the meaning of the crucifixion and the passion and death of Jesus. 

Are banks open on Good Friday?  Although Good Friday is a very holy day for Christians, it is not a bank holiday and mail will be delivered.  Here are a few Good Friday bible verses to contemplate:

Ye know that after two days is [the feast of] the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.

Matthew 26:2

And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify [him]: and the third day he shall rise again.

Matthew 20:19

And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify [him]. And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross. And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull, They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted [thereof], he would not drink. And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots. Matthew 27:31-38

Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.

Mark 15:32

Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

Acts 2:36

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Philippians 2:8

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:2
