Was the National Day of Prayer 2010 cancelled by President Obama?
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14
Rumor says the National Day of Prayer 2010 cancelled by President Obama and will not take place on May 6 as planned. According to Puggal, National Day of Prayer 2010 cancelled because President Obama is honoring the voices of atheists and certain others.
President Truman initiated the National Day of Prayer and it became a permanent practice under President Reagan and through the Bush presidency. Purportedly Christians are upset about the National Day of Prayer 2010 cancelled.
Personally, I hope National Day of Prayer 2010 canceled is just a possibility or rumor. Why does the National Day of Prayer have to be for Christians? Can't we all take a moment to share a simple prayer to our Maker? Why does something simple have to get so complicated?
I respect the fact some people do not believe in religion or God but they are the minority. Perhaps a vote should be taken, as we do with other important issues in this country. Further, nobody is REQUIRED to participate in the National Day of Prayer. Those who don't wish to be part of it, do not have to be.
With natural disasters at an all time high and human nature at an all time low, I think a National Day of Prayer would be a positive practice. For a little while, we can all humble ourselves and join together to heal this land. How can that be a bad thing? After all, we are one nation under God.
Do you agree with National Day of Prayer 2010 cancelled or do you think this is a terrible time to take away a moment of prayer?

The White House might not engage in any ceremony---but it has not been cancelled. Continue your plans for May 6th.
I too thought this was true at first -- it went viral on FaceBook. But it's not true.
Rumors are nothing but dust in the wind, until there is something concrete to tie it to. Like they say in the movies, "Just the facts, ma'am" (Note: The rumor seems to be stemming from last year when Obama cancelled the White house service (observing Day of Prayer)).
That said, Whether or not it is a national observance is of no consequence to me. Even the most horrible cruel dictator could not stop people from praying. Prayer is the communication of the spirit with Savior. (Note: The rumor seems to be stemming from last year when Obama cancelled the White house service (observing Day of Prayer)).
I posted this as a question (and linked back to the source) to get answers...Tonia clarified what is happening above.
I cannot believe what is happening to our beloved country.....it makes me want to vomit and move away.....makes me very thankful that my parents are dead, and my best friends are dead, as well....they don't have to see all this "crap" happening and the takedown of our once beloved democracy.
All the more reason I pray daily for the Rapture to come......I cannot take all this "stuff" going on......the world, and this country, are getting more wicked and evil day by day.........I keep thinking, "How much longer, Lord....how much longer do we Christians have to put up with all this "worldly" crap?
I am sooooo mad, I'm just shaking.
and I can't type the comment I would like for fear of being flamed
Perhaps this is a very Christian thing to do unlike the Muslims who pray in public.
I agree. But many who only claim to be Christian are in your face.
Paying your taxes, following the rules of the road, and putting a stamp on your letter is government stuff, though, and you better follow that.
The only way I want government involved is if old cathedrals are made a national landmark for architectural reasons, to preserve them.
The way I hear it, not only did Obama cancel National Prayer Day, he declared May 6 National Day of Worshipping the Dark Lord. He's asking everyone to slaughter a pig and drink its blood.
Wonder how many Americans have ever seen the video of Congress 'crowning' Sun Myung Moon? It's on YouTube and is very disturbing. So if that's the kind of 'religion' they care to promote, then separation of church and state has even more reason to continue.
Also, the 'National Prayer Breakfasts' are sponsored by suspicious characters - my point is that things aren't necessarily what they seem or how they sound...especially in Washington DC.
#1) NDOP is NOT a Goverment Respecting the establishment of ANY Religion.
NDOP is for all people of ALL religions. So citing Seperation of Church and State is pointless
(not to mention invalid as its NOT law and the letters written about SOCAS were about the Government RULING or being Ruled by the church)
#2) There is NO LAW, that says once you are elected to work for the Government you lose your Constitutional Rights to freedom of Expression and Freedom of Religion.
again with the Unconstitutional claim. No where is there a law saying the white house or any other government official is bared from being part of it. If the white house wants to pray who cares? they sit down with terrorist.
What would happen if you or i asked osama bin ladin over for dinner to talk? we would be investigate untill death lol.
Look folks i think its good, to keep religion out of goverment and Government out of Religion. but we can not stop them from being PART of some thing that they have a RIGHT to being part of.
