The United States Consumer Products Safety Commission is looking in to claims of chemical burns and diaper rash caused by the use of certain types of Pampers diapers. Some concerned parents are wondering if there might be a Pampers recall in the future.
The diapers that are at the bottom of the problem (*snicker*) are those that use the "Dry Max" technology and include the Cruisers and Swaddlers products manufactured by Pampers. These Dry Max diapers are supposted to create a diaper that keeps baby dryer with less bluk to the actual diaper.
In an interview with ABC, Pampers spokesperson Bryan McCleary said, "As hundreds of thousands of moms and babies are switching to the new Dry Max, it’s clear that they’re coincidentally developing diaper rashes and severe diaper rashes at the same time.â€
Parents on the other hand aren't buying it. In light of the recent rash of rashes, parents have formed a Facebook group (seen here) dedicated to "Pampers bring back the OLD CRUISERS/SWADDLERS". As of today, this group has attracted over 4,500 members with many sharing their stories and experiences with the Dry Max diapers.
Will Pampers recall the Dry Max diapers that are causing such a stir? We'll have to wait and see. In the meantime, if your baby uses these diapers and is having a problem with a rash you may wish to consider trying another brand.
