There were no party crashers at last night's State Dinner, the 2nd since the Obama Administration has been in office. The lavish affair feature world-class food and drink, and a wealth of impressive entertainment that even the non-stuffy and/or non-political types would appreciate.
Sources noted that the staff and even the President tended to loosen up as the evening wore on.
"I know we just had a very formal dinner," President Obama said as guests reassembled in a tent on the South Lawn for dessert and after-dinner entertainment. "But we heard that this was the place for the real party."
The real party included a performance by none other than pop sensation Beyonce. Her husband Jay-Z was in attendance at the state dinner as well. Guitarists Rodrigo y Gabriela also sereneded the guests.
The White House staff and security personnel had promised an event with much tighter security this time, in light of the party-crashing couple that caused quite a stir by attending the Obama's last state dinner. Everything went off without a hitch at this event, however, the original party crashers, Michaele and Tareq Salahi were actually stopped by a Secret Service officer in their limo near the White House after the driver ran a red light. The couple was seen later at a restaurant just blocks from the White House with a crew of photographers and camera men in tow.
I'm glad the Obama's managed to pull off an entertaining event for their 2nd state dinner. Celebrity guests were in great abundance, including Whoopi Goldberg, Eva Longoria Parker, George Lopez and Olympic speedskater Shani Davis.
