Former Clinton Joint Chiefs Chairman General Hugh Shelton has a new tell-all book out in which he discusses how Bill Clinton wept over Monica Lewinsky and the trouble the affair brought him. In one excerpt from the book Shelton details the President pulling him aside to talk about the scandal. It's an interesting new look at how the affair scandal was affecting Clinton's core.
General Hugh Shelton is called "one of the leading military figures of our time." His new book, "Without Hesitation: The Odyssey of an American Warrior" is due out October 12th. It's a 576 page hardcover which recalls the stories of the General who served under democratic and republican presidents and helped navigate through the 9/11 crisis as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. According to US News, Shelton's book talks about how Clinton had a private talk with him in the final days of his presidency. Apparently, the former president felt a lot of guilt and shame over what had happened. Shelton recalls that Clinton said to him in their private meeting:
"Hugh, I know the last few years have put a tremendous strain on you based on my ... activity. I know the principles for which you stand, and I know the values, and character, that our men and women in uniform expect—and possess—and in truthfulness, I have not lived up to those values; and yet, you have stuck by me,"
Clinton went on to thank Shelton for being supportive of him. It's an enlightening look at how much the scandal affected Clinton on a personal level. Shelton's book also talks about former presidential candidate, Senator John McCain, but saying that Shelton "was convinced that he had a screw loose." You have to wonder what Shelton has to say about Sarah Palin!
Are you surprised to hear that Bill Clinton was distrought and crying over the Monica Lewinsky scandal in his final days as his president? Do you think the affair scandal made him cry prior to that as well?

As far as this 'tell all' book, I probably won't buy it, but it shows Bill Clinton is human, and that even presidents make mistakes.
Mooch
AND might I add, were I to have been on live TV, with my wife behind me and asked if I was having an affair, I would've lied too. What guy wouldn't?
It isn't always Easy to Forgive, I'll Grant you that, but Forgive we must.
Sincerely, RedBird!
