President Bill Clinton wept over the Monica Lewinsky scandal, according to a new book by Hugh Shelton, "Without Hesitation, The Odyssey of an American Warrior". Â The former Joint Chiefs Chairman, General Hugh Shelton, gives an insight into his time under two presidents, and mentions, among many things, how Bill Clinton cried over the Monica Lewinsky affair.
According to US News and World Report, in a 576 page hard cover book, "Without Hesitation", due out soon, Hugh Shelton provides a rare glimpse into the political war machine, breaches of ethics at the highest levels, private meetings, unrevealed contentious meetings that changed the democratic landscape, and former President Bill Clinton's revelations to him.
Hugh Shelton, is by far, one of the most decorated elite soldiers to wear a military uniform, and one of most trusted minds to helm the wars that both presidents George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton took on. Â Along, with all his accolades, he is considered one of reliable human beings to ever walk the floors of the White House Situation Room and the Pentagon. Â This makes the story that Bill Clinton wept over the Monica Lewinsky scandal believable.
In "Without Hesitation", Hugh Shelton says that during his final meeting with President Bill Clinton, prior to George W. Bush's swearing-in ceremony as new Commander-In-Chief, Clinton asked to speak with him. Â "Hugh, I need to see you in private, please," Shelton recalls. Â Without hesitation, the General complied, and ushered the melancholic president into the White House Situation Room. Â Here is an excerpt of why Bill Clinton wept over the Monica Lewinsky scandal:
"Hugh, I know the last few years have put a tremendous strain on you based on my ... activity. I know the principles for which you stand, and I know the values, and character, that our men and women in uniform expect—and possess—and in truthfulness, I have not lived up to those values; and yet, you have stuck by me."
The former president began to cry tears of shame and continued on. Â "I want to personally thank you for your support."
After Bill Clinton had just wept over the Monica Lewinsky scandal, Shelton admitted in "Without Hesitation" that he was "completely in awe."
The secret remained with Shelton for all this time until he decided to publish a tell-all book.  Shelton even includes in his book how one high-ranking member of congress wanted to deliberately kill a U.S. pilot, blame it on the Iraqis, and have an excuse to declare war, following 9/11.
Even after Bill Clinton wept over the Monica Lewinsky scandal, Hugh Shelton went on to support Hillary Clinton in her run for president against Barack Obama. Â He continues to be loyal to the Clinton family, today.
