Until Thursday, Charles Leaf was best known as an award-winning reporter for FOX 5 in New York. Thursday was the day that Leaf's successful, family man appearance started to publicly crumble when he was arrested in New Jersey for sexually assaulting a 4-year old child.
According to Fox 5, the 41-year old Leaf "is charged with one count first degree aggravated sexual assault, one count second degree sexual assault and one count second degree endangering the welfare of a child."
The girl, who has been described as an acquaintance, was allegedly assaulted at Leaf's home on Tuesday. Leaf was arrested at his home in Wycoff, N.J., on Thursday and is being held on $250,000 bail.
Leaf has a wife and two children. No mention of prior assaults on children have been made.
It was unclear on Friday whether Leaf had an attorney.
What is clear, however, is that parents should hug their children a bit more tightly and not trust the facade. Just because someone has a good job, wears a suit and has a couple of kids does not mean that he (or she) is trustworthy around children.
