Yesterday night saw what many believe was a Manhattan UFO over New York. The unidentified object was spotted by dozens in multiple reported sightings over West 23rd Street of Manhattan. It's been captured on film and in video so now the debates can begin about possible extraterrestrials hovering over Earth.
The recent observations now have thousands wondering what exactly was hovering up in the sky. As the New York Times reports, it was a "silvery vision of a dozen balloon-like dots" up over the West 23rd Street area. Calls started to hit the NYPD and FAA around 1:30 PM in the afternoon Wednesday. Witnesses stopped in their tracks for several blocks to observe the strange phenomenon up in the sky.Â
Some speculated that maybe it was just a weather balloon or balloons, but a FAA spokesman said the agency hadn't been notified of plans for any to be in the area. While a balloon would make for a tidy and easy explanation, most of those who saw the lights in the sky don't believe it was one. One witness, a 32-year-old named Pete Bryant said:
"I saw five or six lights shining in the sky. There was no way that thing was a balloon.
"There was something weird about it. Light just doesn't reflect off balloons like that. "If Martians were to land anywhere, New York is a much better location than some backwoods town in the Midwest."
Another witness compared it to looking like a jellyfish and expecting aliens to beam down and introduce themselves. Still another compared it to the "Predator" aliens.Â
It's rare that there would be so many people reporting such a strange sight in the sky, and for FAA to have no knowledge of any sort of aircraft or balloon which would cause it. What's also interesting about this is that there's recent buzz about UFO sightings in China as well.Â
The Fox NY report below shows video footage of a white object in the sky. The photographer zooms in on what looks like a star at first, but has a tail attached to it of blue lights. It's interesting to hear what witnesses have to say about what they saw as well. What do you think based on the video footage and lights in the sky?
