McDonald’s Dollar Menu may have to be renamed because they plan to raise prices in 2011. The reason Mickey D’s gives for the increase is the rising cost of commodities.
McDonald’s to Raise Prices in 2011 Ahead of Commodities Increase
McDonald’s thinks that the price of commodities will rise 2-3% for 2011, and that is a big cost to absorb. McDonald’s has chosen to be proactive and plan a price increase instead. McDonald’s has been able to avoid price increases since the end of 2009, so it is pretty good to have made it this long.
One of the reasons that McDonald’s has remained successful is because they’ve given U.S. consumers affordable options during the tough economic times of the past few years. McDonald’s has actually gained market share.
Until the prices increase, McDonald’s is focusing on promotions like Monopoly as well as its newly reintroduced McRib sandwich. It’s interesting that McDonald’s is choosing now to raise prices when their stock is up 25.7%, and it has outperformed its earnings estimates. Is it possible that McDonald’s could stall their growth if the price increases are too steep? Probably not – McDonald’s has long been successful at luring in customers will all types of promotions and new menu items. Will you still eat there when they raise prices?

and really, if you can get a double cheeseburger for a buck...you should REALLY question its quality...i mean....its a buck!
not to say i havent eaten my fill of them though...sigh...
ok yeah for 5 bucks everyone gets a lil burger and 5 more drinks and 5 more fries so that is 15 bucks and everyone is still hungry ...
i can take that same 15 bucks and go to shop and save buy a pack of meat loaf of bread bag of fries and teh fixins for iced tea and go home and have 2 burgers and a bunch of fries and no one is hungry after what would you do ?
It might seem cheap at the time... but a $50,000 heart attack treatment is SO not worth it. Not to mention the loss of productivity that comes with not getting the right nutrition.
Anyone who does NOT eat at McDonald's is NOT a TRUE AMERICAN! The same people protest everything from the food to the service to even the location (Greece)?!! are the first ones to cry "foul" when the crap hits the fan! Come on! Instead of comming on here to brag about how better you think you are than everyone else, you need to be thanking McDonald's for offering jobs. For it's charity. For giving over-worked mother's a quick refuge when dinner will be a littllle too late because she's tired from working hard day. You should see the benefit of the institution that has offered so many smiles on the faces of poor children in the US and around the world! Yes! hey have to rasie their prices! That is not a laughing matter! It is a trajedy for people because times are hard. You borderline socialist need to stop being so quick to laugh and complain about your so-called intolerance (I mean really? Grow a pair!) and flaunting your litte European escapades! McDonald's serve wholesome food that they proudly prove everyday of the week! They show you what they got and you spoiled prince and princesses still sit back and complain! Boo-hoo-hoo mimble mimble. You don't dominate this conversation! You hate Micky D's so much then get a friggin' job there and do better!
Now let me tell you a little something about me if you haven't already noticed:
1) I am a REAL American!
2) I pay may taxes
3) I vote (and yes the Tea Party shall RISE)
4) I Support my country and my troops
5) I drive a truck (FORD)
6) I love Lady Liberty standing with her torch on the mountain pon high. SHE is my first true love and I wish all women would be like her! And I'll tell you a secret I get a hard-on when I think of her and no woman on this earth is a beautiful as Miss Liberty.
7) Oh, and yes, I was born on 7/3/1976. One day off but my mom did her best!
And let me tell you socialist something else: You were ALL raised on McDonald's! How do you get older and un-wiser?
Am I missing something? Or looking in the wrong place? The only date I see in Sam's comment is his birthday ... is that the one you mean?
Btw ... love me a Ford above, beyond, and over anything from Government Motors.
