The double agent who exposed Anna Chapman is being hunted down by a Russian hitman. The alleged Russian double agent is said to be on the run after it was revealed that he led United States officials to Chapman and her spy ring. Yikes!
A well-respected paper Kommersant wrote an article that identified the double agent as Colonel Shcherbakov. Although the first name of the man was not given, the story claims that Shcherbakov had a daughter in the U.S. Shcherbakov worked for the SVR, The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, whose job consisted of planting civilian moles in the United States.
According to the Kommersant, Russian intelligence told them that Shcherbakov fled to the U.S. in late June, and that his own son quit his job and joined his father in the U.S. around the same time. With Shcherbakov’s alleged help, FBI arrested 10 people as spies in the United States. All 10 spies were deported in a prisoner exchange with four Russians jailed for sending information to the West.
Gennady Gudkov, a member of the Russian parliament’s national security committee stated, "Shcherbakov turned over our agents in the U.S.A....knew of this long before the publication today in Kommersant."
How awful it must be for Shcherbakov and his family to be living with such fear. This doesn’t sound good. Seriously, who wants a Russian hitman seeking after them? Don't we have a witness protection program that Shcherbakov and family could take part in?
