Are Teacher Sexual Abuse Cases On The Rise?

It was recently announced that a teacher from Regina High School in Iowa City facing a sex abuse charge involving a minor, has had his trial date moved to January 11, 2011.  Fifty year old Robert Dolan is facing charges that he supplied alcohol to a seventeen year old boy, and when the boy passed out, he claims he woke up to Dolan fondling him.

This type of case involving teacher sexual abuse on a student completely boggles the mind.  With all the daily stress parents have to worry about, the last thing parents want to contemplate is if they need to worry about their child being sexually abused by someone in a position of authority over them who we should be able to trust!

The list of teacher sexual abuse cases being reported is mind blowing. Teachers are of  course supposed to be intelligent people, yet this just keeps becoming front page news!

But it's not just teachers who have cornered the market on sexual abuse.  One of the more "popular" recent cases involves a thirty-seven year old mother from Texas, Lori Darling David.  Darling was arrested for sending nude pictures of herself to her son’s sixteen year old classmate.  Lori Darling David has now been charged with the online solicitation of a minor.

Sexual abuse cases seem to be so common in the world today that it's not even shocking anymore, and that is certainly not a good thing!  The sad part of all this is that some people actually admire these women.  Lori Darling David has actually become quite popular from this, even getting a Facebook page titled "Lori Darling David deserves a Medal!"

What do you think should happen to people who commit this type of sexual abuse involving our children?  Especially when most of the cases seem to involve adults are in their thirties or older and the kids are under sixteen!
