Chris Greening was just out cruising around on a Friday night with a buddy, when he was pulled over by police. Â This was not an ordinary traffic stop. Â Police soon realized Greening and his buddy were not alone in the car, and that one of the other occupants would require the assistance of Animal Control.
It seems that Greening recently acquired Ali, a three foot long alligator.  How did  Greening
come to own a reptile that most people would assume belongs in a zoo? Â Craigslist, of course. Â In fact, Greening was quite impressed with the deal he got on Ali.
Â
"I paid $100 for her and came to find out she was worth $1,000," he said. "So it was kind of like an investment, and I got attached to her. I didn't want to get rid of her."
According to KCTV in Kansas City, Ali and Greening became so attached that she would sleep with him in his bed (her mouth taped for his safety, of course).  As the months went on, Greening found the alligator to be quite docile.  Therefore, he didn't see anything wrong with taking his buddy and his alligator out for drive on a Friday night.
Though it is illegal to own exotic pets in Missouri, Greening says he will try to get her back. Â If sucessful, he plans to raise her until she reaches 12 feet. Â At that point, much like a parent sending a child off to college, Greening says it will be time to send her off to a habitat that is not his home. Â No word on his plans for recouping his investment.
