The Tonight Show spoofed President Obama by showing him kick a door after his tax cut speech. And whether people took it seriously or not, that video went viral fast.
The "Obama Kicks a Door" Tonight Show video was done to parody Obama's clear frustration with Republicans and others for having to trade renewing jobless benefits for a tax deal. Arguing with the Party of No must be like wrangling a room of toddlers on a sugar high.
And the Tonight Show seemed to get that. The "Obama Kicks a Door" video was the result. It's short, to the point, and an excellent editing job at that.
"Obama Kicks a Door" video made by the Tonight Show
President Obama agreeing to extend the Bush tax cuts for all Americans, even the wealthiest, came with a renewal of jobless benefits and a payroll tax holiday as well as an increase in the estate tax, according to ABC. Call that the sugar coating on the bitter pill.
And the "Obama Kicks a Door" video could be taken by some as showing him throwing a tantrum. Certainly the left-wingers who he castigated in a press conference might say that.
But really, a video of Obama kicking a door depicts how most people on unemployment feel right now. Jobs are scarce, concern is scarcer, and Washington keeps arguing instead of acting.
So if the "Obama Kicks a Door" video leads to a moment of sympathy for a president who has accomplished a lot despite what others may say about him on all sides, it's a public service, really.
