A dog was killed in South Carolina for chewing on a Bible. A 65-year-old woman from the state is charged with animal cruelty for killing her nephew Andy Fowler’s puppy after the dog chewed on her copy of the Good Book. According to the aunt, the fury creature was a “devil dog.”
Fowler called police last Tuesday to report that his aunt, Miriam Smith, had hung his 1-year-old pit bull named Diamond. What a horrific call to have to make. When police arrived, they did indeed find the partially burned dogÂ’s body under a pile of grass. The poor animal had an orange electrical cord wrapped around its neck. A necropsy later confirmed that the tortured animal had died by hanging. What a horrifying way for this creature to be killed.
Smith has been characterized as a religious fanatic by her neighbors who needs some help. The woman has been charged with animal cruelty and torture, and she is being held at the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
There does not seem to be a history of animal cruelty in SmithÂ’s past, but she obviously went way too far when Diamond chewed her Bible. There was absolutely no reason for this South Carolina woman to so brutally hang and kill this one-year-old puppy.

There's no excuse for what she did, Puppies chew on everything. So sad, how horrific for the puppy. How awful of the woman.
"devil" dogs? The crazy things people do in the name of religion are truly terrifying.
Question: what if her 4 year old nephew had damaged her Bible? Would she have killed him too? Probably so. After all, he would have obviously been a devil child. Stories like this make me almost physically ill.
