Part 2 of the child pornography ring
Of course Montrealers are concerned about child pornography and though we look at it as a local issue, the fact is, child sexual abuse is a global women's issue and general issue for people all over the world. We rarely concern ourselves with issues outside our own little world. For Montrealers, that world would be the Canada and the United States. However, feminism is concerned with women's issues globally and therefore this article will be talking about a child pornography ring in the Netherlands.
Child pornography ring in the Netherlands – continued
However, the good news is that Eurojust has announced in an email that a worldwide pedophile network has been discovered and the children involved have been rescued. Certain members of this ring have already been arrested. The discovery of this child pornography ring has been a joint effort between several countries including the United States.
The investigation has been ongoing since 2008 and two conferences are schedule for The Hague, Netherlands, and Los Angeles, CA, to give an update on what has been happening.
One victim's parent saw a photo of their child on TV and alerted the authorities, the US government investigated and confirmed, and seized the image which was produced in the Netherlands. The suspect in question was arrested on Dec 7, when the authorities linked the pornographic material to his computer.
It was at this time that the suspect confessed to dozens of sex crimes that happened over a period of a year and half said chief prosecutor Herman Bolhaar.
The child victims were boys and girls all under the age of 4.
The Amsterdam police are searching for more suspects in an attempt to foil the sex ring that is suspected at this time. They are looking for more witnesses to help the investigation.
Mayor Van der Laan is asking the cooperation of the media in refraining from publishing the photos of the children involved or in contacting the parents directly.
