It's been a week that Michael Vick probably wants to put behind him as quickly as possible. First, Vick was given the key to the city of Dallas recently, which is rather ironic considering Vick is a convicted felon and spent time in jail on dog fighting charges. This should have been a happy time for the NFL quarterback, yet his past indiscretions came to light once again when he was confronted by a man who adopted one of his dogs. Vick didn't seem concerned and didn't even bother to acknowledge the man. Surprised? You shouldn't be. Because while he may not be fighting dogs anymore, he is still the same man he was in 2006 -- cold, cruel and heartless. A good match for football, but a bad match for life. Are you shocked by his apathy?

The second thing that happened to Vick this week is more of a good thing -- for animal rights activists at least. Vick's old home has been bought by a dog rescue group, which should give all animal lovers some satisfaction. Now the dogs who live there will be happy with a large yard and lots of love. Oh yeah, and hopefully they will pee all over his home and yard as revenge for the atrocities that took place there when Vick and his dog-fighting ring were residents.
The group called Dogs Deserve Better hopes to turn Vick's 4,600 square foot home and 15 acres of property into an animal sanctuary where rescued dogs can be rehabilitated and adopted. It's revenge in its own way, since the dogs who suffered cannot speak for themselves and they need humans to stand up for them. The idea of an animal sanctuary on Vick's property is exciting and wonderful and probably the last thing Vick would ever want.

One thing we can take away from Vick's encounter with the man in Dallas this week is that he hasn't changed -- not even after 19 months in prison. It's infuriating to know that Vick has not learned his lesson. He just goes on with life as if nothing ever happened. However, what comes around goes around, and one of these days hopefully Vick will get exactly what he deserves because he has gotten off far too lightly, don't you think? Let's just hope that the karma comes back and bites him for all the suffering that he caused.
