Happy Pi Day! What exactly does this mean? Well today is March 14th, 20111. Or numerically, 3.14. Hence creating Pi Day!
Just another one of those fun days to celebrate and add to our list! Not only science and mathematical wiz’s can celebrate today, but the common folk who have forgotten the lessons of middle school geometry. Take advantage of teaching children what this means. Incorporate this into some sort of fun activity today, like baking cookies and icing them with 3.14. This is one math lesson that may stick!
Explained in Time, Pi is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, but in pop culture, the Greek symbol has come to represent the unknown in its broadest terms.
While many adults remember the lesson of Pi in high school math class, we should dedicate the entire day to science and math. If little ones are in the family simply introducing them to this fantastic ratio of epic proportions!
Happy Pi Day!
