A man took the decomposing body of his friend to the emergency room in NM, thinking his friend was sick. However, the woman had been dead at least a day.
A 64-year-old man, Jerry Maestas of New Mexico, drove to the emergency room in Espanola, seeking help for what he said was for his female sick friend in the car.
When ER staff arrived outside, they instead found a dead woman, who appeared to be in the early stages of decomposition, based on the smell.
In fact, the odor was so strong, the staff could detect it long before they discovered the dead unidentified woman, 33. Estimates are the woman died 24 to 36 hours earlier.
When a person is in need of medical care, the best place to be is a hospital, where trained staff can administer appropriate care, based on the condition. But, when a decomposing body is brought to the hospital, the staff soon learned that scenario was probably not taught in medical school, at least while they were awake.
Even police must be baffled why a man would bring a decomposing body to the emergency room without first notifying them. For his role in this strange case, police plan to charge the man with failure to report a death.

He could have just walked in, gone into shock and rushed her to ER without even taking the moment to look over the body for decomposition. But, it is hard to say he should be charged when he meant to save the person. We don't know the situation, but thanks for posting up about this interesting topic.
Or, just harvested his year's crop of medical weed. That would help cover up the odor, too! (And that sometimes attract girlfriends!)
