Casey Anthony Trial: George Anthony's Testimony...

Day three of the Casey Anthony trial got intense as Caylee's grandfather, George Anthony, took the stand to testify for the second time. In an awkward and heated conversation with Casey's lawyer, Jose Baez, Mr. Anthony refused to be rattled.

The Casey Anthony trial took a bit of a turn as George Anthony confronted Jose Baez, telling the lawyer, he would not be disrespected, and accused the defense of trying to upset him during his testimony.

Tension was thick in the air, as even the judge seemed to be getting annoyed by the communication problems. Objections flew left and right from the State of Florida as Mr. Baez's words and questioning pushed the envelope.

The main concern of Baez was to question George about the gas cans, which were taken by Casey Anthony from her family home, and placed into the truck of her car, which the state believes one contained Caylee's body. One of these cans had a specific brand of duct tape stuck to it; the same tape that was found around Caylee Anthony's remains.

Each new day has brought interesting testimony to the stand. However, because the defense has chosen to basically blame George Anthony for Casey's incompetent mental state, his testimony will be critical to the jury in the Casey Anthony trial.

I find Jose Baez to be pushing the envelope, too. He may be as good of an actor as his client, Casey.

I find George to be insolent. I also think it is interesting that the prosecution has not entered the picture of the can after it was fingerprinted. George said under oath that the piece of tape was a different size piece than the one in the photo before finger printing. Maybe the rest of the tape was cut off because of evidence in the gum or perhaps fingerprints on the surface...

What a terrible place for George to be, I personally feel sorry for the guy. He not only has lost his granddaughter, and his daughter is on trial, but now because the defense is making a desperate attempt to create reasonable doubt (IMO) he is implicated in the alleged moving of a body. He cannot be a normal witness for the defense because if he does, he incriminates himself. He cannot work with the prosecution, because if he does he is encouraging them to convict his daughter in a capital murder case. There is no way he can win except tell the truth, which I think he did so far. I think the drowning/abuse thing is untrue. Just my opinion.

I find the drowning very plausible. The abuse, I don't know either way. I thought at the time it was funny how George and Cindy ran out to get an attorney.

I agree JJ. If she was abused she would not have had Caylee in the same bed with her and her old boyfriend, as per his testimony today. Another witness said she bragged about being a good liar after lying on the cell phone to get out of something...

Her father, George is a detective. This is a serious blow to him, to have a daughter kill her child.

I truly feel sorry for George and I really worry about his emotional state..........I just do not, and cannot, believe the "allegations" by Baez about his (George's) abusing Casey.......she is a snake....so venomous and the world's biggest liar (she has even bragged many times about what a "great" liar she is.....wow, that's really gonna go against her).
Casey would turn against her own parents, just to save her own skin.....I'm afraid there are too, too many things against her.....and am sure she'll be found guilty of murdering her own child.

Nora, I am having a really hard time believing this was not an accidental death covered up. Yes, she lied, and lied, and lied. That does not make her a murderess. How could she have the "amazing" relationship with her daughter and purposefully kill her? Witness after witness say she was a great Mother. It is much more logical that it was an accident that was covered up. They have NOT proved differently.

I am a sda Adventist church member. Want to say my belief is that George and his wife did not do anything as a parent life is hard and you have been so out in the public that the hard is big, knowing that life has stress most kids get it and start understanding the impact of every stress. They are in school, have food put on the table, they have stress with friends. No little child when they reach the age of even 19 , they should get over the stress and move on. I can have a favor toward the majority of people who have studied George vs. daughter . Most people believe George and I do also.

No wonder soap operas are becomind obsolete. Reality is more outrageous than fiction these days.
