Banana Splits after Attacking Gorilla (Video)

Police say that someone dressed up as a banana attacked the Strongsville, Ohio, Wireless Center's store mascot, a gorilla, then ran away from the scene.

The bizarre incident had store employees scratching their heads and believing it must have been a prank. So far, no videos have shown up on sharing sites like YouTube, but that may only be a matter of time.

Witnesses say that the unidentified employee was waving a sign around in the parking lot of the cell phone store last week, when someone, dressed in a banana costume, jumped out of the bushes and ran headfirst into the gorilla mascot, knocking him down and running off.

The gorilla mascot employee was not injured and was able to get up, re-adjust the costume and resume his promotional duties outside the store. When the store manager call 911, it resulted in the bizarre exchange heard in the video below.

This is a weird story, but there can only be one explanation. The prankster had to have filmed the episode in the hopes of making a viral video for the web. Does that mean that everybody now has to expect a viral video prankster at any time? Even at work?

There's a bad one in every bunch...
