The 30-year-old woman is from Missouri, and she was rescued by a boat captain named Corey Ziraldo. Thank goodness he was able to save her from the whirlpool at Niagara Falls.
Burgess said, "I just wanted to touch the beauty. It was like somebody pulled me in. I just remember one leg sliding down. It feels literally like a tornado underwater. It was like trying to tread water in a tornado." Check out the video below to hear more details in the victim's own words.
What a terrifying ordeal, and it also is an important lesson for visitors at Devil's Pool. Perhaps it is not wise to reach out to touch the water if the whirlpool currents are that strong. Things do not float in these strong currents, and it is incredible good fortune that Lindsey Burgess was rescued. Captain Ziraldo immediately drove straight to her assistance as she was sucked into the whirlpool at Niagara Falls.
