An unidentified male cheerleader was booted for sharing a gay kiss with another male student while on campus grounds. The incident happened in Alice, TX. The male cheerleader says he was suspended from his high school after being booted from the cheerleading squad after a surveillance camera caught him sharing in a gay kiss.
The teen believes he had probably been under surveillance for awhile because "they never check cameras for anything unless something is stolen. We would be the ones getting caught because I'm sure we were the only ones, sexual orientation-wise, being caught like that."
The male cheerleader's parents are pushing for him to be reinstated into the cheerleading squad but thus far, the school hasn't made an official statement about the incident. The student's parents are also threatening to take further action if their son is not reinstated. They believe he was booted over something trivial. A gay kiss is just a kiss, right?

First of all let me say I am straight. Then if you have ever been to Alice, Texas you could perhaps understand why such a decision was made. Let's just say that part of Texas is cowboy boots and pick up trucks. I am not saying what was done is right or wrong, what I am saying is if you understood the culture around Alice then you would have a better understanding why such a decision was made.
And I didn't park my car today, I gay-parked it.
Kissing is Kissing, and I support kissing- gay or straight- as long as it doesn't go too far in school.
Now excuse me while I go gay-wash my dishes.
In all honesty Angela I really don't think you're a bad person, you're probably a really good person. I'm sure you generally treat others the way you want to be treated, and I doubt you would ever sell your daughter into slavery or stone your unruly child to death. I'm sure that in alot of ways your morals are very similar to my own.
The difference is you claim to get your morals from the bible, and I know that's not true. Sure there are some good moral teachings in the bible, but there are also some really evil teachings in the same book. If you truly got your morality from the bible you would follow it to the letter, and you would probably be serving a life sentence in prison right now.
The fact is that just like every American christian, you pick and choose what parts of the bible to take seriously. You follow the teachings of Jesus (who by the way never said a word about homosexuality) but ignore the parts about forcing a rape victim to marry her rapist and killing gay people. You don't get your morals from the bible, you get your morals from your own mind.
You know that it's wrong to kill people not because the bible said thou shalt not kill, but because you know you wouldn't want someone to kill you. You know that stealing is wrong because you wouldn't want someone stealing your property, not because the bible said thou shalt not steal. I'm almost certain that you're more moral than the authors of the bible.
This is the same society does nothing to stop them from doing that because they are too busy sitting on their fat asses watching TV to be bothered by any of this. Morals?? Americans as a society have no biz utilizing the word "moral."
Until someone provides an answer to that question, we won't know how odd it is that this particular fellow was suspended. IF this is an isolated incident then I would say that there is an ethical issue because public institutions of learning are not supposed to discriminate period.
