Brian McGuinn combed a Florida landfill to find his wife Anna McGuinn's custom made engagement ring. Can you believe he found it? The diamond cost $10,000, so he had a huge reason to want to find it even in tons of disgusting trash.
The night before Halloween, Brian McGuinn accidentally threw away the ring along with a disposable razor, and when Amy McGuinn (who is five months pregnant) figured it out, she tried to keep things in perspective, but she was devastated. Thankfully, their garbage company, Wheelabrator North Broward, actually allowed for searches in these types of situations, so Brian volunteered to find his wife's lost engagement ring. What a daunting task that must have been.
Ultimately, Brian McGuinn along with the help of Joe Ryan, actually searched through bags of garbage, and found the ring. Talk about a needle in a haystack. Amazingly, the ring was lodged in a pink frozen yogurt cup. Amy said, "He sees my hot pink frozen yogurt cup that I had requested the night before." In it, is the disposable razor, and he saw "this silver nail glaring at him in the sludge. He takes the glove off, sticks his hand down and sure enough it's my diamond."
Unbelievable! The entire search only took an hour too, which is simply amazing. Of her ring, Amy said, "I'm not taking it off anymore." She may end up having to if her hands swell during the pregnancy, but there is no doubt that she and Brian McGuinn will be extremely careful with it from now on. This type of luck would not likely happen a second time.
What is the strangest place you have found something you've lost? Have you ever had to search through a landfill to find something like this?

Someday maybe the person who took my high school ring and my wedding band will return them. I'm not holding my breath though, it's been about 20 years.
That's a guy worth keeping! I hope his wife knows this.
If I ever get engaged I want a cheap ring. Then I'll invest the rest of the money so that someday I could retire.
