Occupy Wall Street protestors were beaten by NYPD officers. Protestors being attacked by officers included a small female protestor. A male protestor who got away from the police attack said he was at a loss of words after seeing the police attacking protestors. The gentleman stated that police where telling protestors to cross the street but then were stopped and hit with batons when they tried to cross.
Yet again the police of New York City have resulted to extreme violence to deal with a non-violent protest. On The Other 99%'s live video stream you could see where the young man was hit with a baton on his elbow. The spot was red and the skin raised. How much more is America going to stand for? Has this country really become a police state? By the looks of the live video feeds coming out of New York City it is.
Occupy Wall Street has always been a peaceful, non-violent movement and the violence reported has always come from the police departments who are supposed to be protecting the citizens. They are hitting small women with batons and other protestors in the neck. The movement needs support and the police need to be brought to justice.

Right, cause the police can do no wrong. If they severely injure a military veteran at the protests and then throw a flash grenade at people trying to help him they must have had a damn good reason.

He was out there along with many others throwing things at, ignoring, and defying valid police intervention of what that group of people were doing. It's an awful thing it happened, but he put himself into that situation with (or was actually leading?) people who were doing things they shouldn't have been doing.
They have every right to be out there protesting the government, and corruption.
They certainly do have that right. But once rocks and bottles and molotov coctails and vandalism of private property, defiance of legitimate requests from police and private property owners enter into the duscussion, all bets are off as to the safety of those committing such acts.
Whether or not they have a legitimate gripe or not. Reality ... it'll kick you in the shins when you least expect it.
Obviously you didn't actually watch the video or you would know that he was doing none of that. He was standing there with other peaceful protesters...just standing there...not even almost doing anything violent. The attack was 100% unprovoked.
It's an awful thing it happened, but he put himself into that situation with (or was actually leading?) people who were doing things they shouldn't have been doing.
Things they shouldn't have been doing such as exercising their right to free speech and their right to peacefully protest? Cause had you watched the video you would know that is exactly what was going on.
They have every right to be out there protesting the government, and corruption.
But?
They certainly do have that right. But once rocks and bottles and molotov coctails and vandalism of private property....
None of which was happening. Again, the police were the ones being violent, not the protesters.

The requests of the police were not legitimate because they were trying to disperse a legal protest. As for any business owners they don't even come into the equation because the protesters were on the public streets and sidewalks, not inside private businesses.
Whether or not they have a legitimate gripe or not. Reality ... it'll kick you in the shins when you least expect it.
Says the guy who ignores video footage that contradicts his version of events.
Here's a reference for you. It's all interesting, if slow to start; but the relevant part (for the moment) starts at about 1:40. --- Oh that Lisa Fithian! She's such a card; and she's got such a peaceful mindset?
I should have addressed my second comment it was directed at Lee. I will send you a PM.
Those who oppose OWS will exploit the wrongdoing of questionable characters--by declaring that such behavior is emblematic of the entire Cause.
If OWS were to be better organized--including, maybe, a realignment that would include some sort of horizontal leadership--then problems might be scattered or reduced.
They accomplished nothing.
