Oklahoma teen mom Sarah McKinley shot and killed Justin Martin when he tried to break into her home on New Year's Eve. She called 911, and the transcripts of those calls have been released.
When she called 911, Sarah McKinley said, "I've got two guns in my hand. Is it OK to shoot him if he comes in this door?" The dispatcher replied, "Well, you have to do whatever you can do to protect yourself. I can't tell you that you can do that, but you have to do what you have to do to protect your baby."
What a horrifying situation for this 18-year-old widow and teen mom to be faced with on New Year's Eve. She ended up shooting Justin Martin as he broke down her door after trying to get in for 20 minutes. She had barricaded the door with a couch. Can you believe that it took police so long to get there? That is how it is sometimes in rural towns like Blanchard, Oklahoma.
People from all over the country have been supportive of the 18-year-old Sarah McKinley. A fund has been established in her name at Chickasha Bank and Trust, located at 1525 N. Council Road in Blanchard. Those who want to donate can mail it to P.O. Box 548 in Blanchard, Okla., 73010. After just having her husband die from cancer on Christmas Day, and then dealing with this home invasion and having to kill the intruder, there is no doubt that this teen mom could use some help. Not surprisingly, she has been overwhelmed by all the national attention her story has received.
Do you think you would have been able to remain so calm in the face of a home invasion?
