There is a chance that selling, possessing and using marijuana in Michigan will become legal for anyone over the age of 21 years old. While this will make it possible for marijuana users to stop trying to hide their habit, it isn't necessarily going to help the state.
An advocacy group will start gathering signatures tomorrow for a petition to legalize marijuana. The petition needs at least 322,000 valid signatures in order for the bill to be placed on the ballot in November. It is likely that the petition will continue to collect signatures through mid-July.
Federal laws still prohibit the sale, possession and use of marijuana. If Michigan does legalize it, the state law won't override the federal law. It will simply protect small time users from prosecution at the local and state levels. If the bill passes, marijuana will be classified in the same way that alcohol is classified. Driving laws will be changed to reflect the new law.
Some people claim that this is the first step toward legalizing all drugs; however, it just doesn't really seem that way. Sure, marijuana is a mind-altering substance, but can it really be placed on the same level as cocaine or meth? Not really, especially when you consider the fact that marijuana is a natural substance.
If this bill makes it onto the ballot and eventually becomes law, it seems like businesses and municipalities will have to find ways to determine if an employee is actually under the influence of marijuana while on the job. It isn't going to be enough to simply prove that an employee has used marijuana during his or her private time after business hours. What kind of problems will fully legalizing marijuana cause?
There are some types of marijuana that contain other substances and any bill to legalize it needs to have some stipulations about the specific state of the legal marijuana. Hopefully, if this matter does go up for a vote, something will be included that makes it simple to see that only marijuana in its natural form is legal.
Is this the first step to legalize marijuana in the United States? Will legalizing marijuana in its natural form help or hurt society?

I've never worked for anyone that didn't consider me one of their best workers, if not the best. "On" it, or not.
I myself do not partake in the stuff, but have no problem with those that do as long as they do not endanger anyone else. In my eyes its the same as alcohol. fine when used responsibly and in moderation.
Marijuana doesn't "fry brain cells" nor is it harmful or addictive.
Nancy reminds me of my aunt. She still touts off old wive's tales like they're fact even though she has a computer with internet. She still thinks toads give you warts and taking a hot bath on your period will make you sterile. In today's day and age, there is no excuse to be as uneducated that you feel the need to rattle off and continue spreading misinformation.
In other words, get educated and try not to misinform others on this topic. @Nancy
It's been under Federal control since they Feds propagandized it and then made it illegal so they could make tremendous underground non taxed profits. They safeguard the continuous flow of it into this country everyday of every week, and have for nearly an entire century now, while ressurecting their empire, Rome. They recycle it after busting people they distributed it to. That's the reality of it. And I don't just think that's the way it is, I know it for a fact. I've been there. I've seen it. I've heard it. I've been educated. IT's hard for me to believe that there are still people like you out there that don't have a clue. Hell, they are murderers. All of them.
Sorry you had such a psychotic aunt Chelsea. Maybe that's why you need to medicate to face life.
Is all of that because, as you asy, I ahve a fried brain.
After reading many of your comments, I'd say your the one with the fried brain, probably because you feel you have to "medicate to face life." Everything I mentioned in my above statements is documented history that is available to the public. What about your knowledge? Where do you get it from, MNBC and your favorite local womens' club of gossip (and deceit)? You're always making statements you can't back up, and then running from being confronted about it. You are one of the biggest part of the problems. You and your kind of overeaters.
Hey, I'm sorry that your obvious lack of education on that matter (for whatever reasons you have for remaining willfully uneducated) has led you to believe mis-facts and behave in a way that only further proves your total lack of knowledge about marijuana or herbal medicine as it seems.
oh and another thing:

If she does though, it's sad that she has to medicate so much to just exist....
I wonder if they put some marijuana in it if it would help curb their "migraine" which is actually just a reaction to the chocolate. I never put it in chocolate to try it, but I know it doesn't help me much to not have a bad reaction by inhaling it.
I hope you didn't think I was criticizing you by this statement, perhaps I should have been more clear. The things they do nowadays has become quite obvious. They don't try to hide much of it anymore, because it makes them feel more powerful to stand in our faces and try to rub it in our faces, those of us who are opposed to them and their doings.
Obama has stood in front of this country continuously all throughout his campaign and term stating, "We know we have been corrupt......" As has most all of them, if not all of them in DC. And the damnedest thing about it is the public just ignores that like, 'oh well, that's nothing.' They're submitting themselves to the same punishment that is bound to come on those "We know we have been corrupt" bass turds.
Just kidding!
Marijuana is not legal because the "law" is corrupt. They are all corrupt bass turds. And they are also cowards.
